Senior Software Developer (Fintech)

Location: London Moorgate, United Kingdom; hybrid role with an assigned workspace in the London office.

What you will do

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, address technical questions, and translate business needs into software solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable front-end and back-end applications supporting international payments and foreign exchange workflows.
• Provide technical guidance, contribute to architectural decisions, break down work, and improve engineering practices.
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable code using Agile practices, unit testing, continuous integration, and clean coding principles.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, QA Engineers, and Software Developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot, debug, optimize, and take ownership of complex technical challenges while balancing maintainability, performance, security, reliability, and business value.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience with C# and .NET development across web and/or desktop applications.
• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server, relational database design, stored procedures, and T-SQL.
• Experience developing HTTP APIs and service-oriented or distributed systems.
• Experience with message queues, service buses, asynchronous processing, or event-driven architectures.
• Experience writing unit tests and applying modern software engineering practices.
• Experience working within Agile software development teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments, foreign exchange, fintech, banking, or other regulated financial services industries.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications built with VB.NET, VB6, or older .NET Framework technologies.
• Experience developing front-end applications with React, Blazor, or similar frameworks.
• Experience integrating third-party platforms and external vendor systems.
• Experience with performance tuning, monitoring, observability, and production support.
• Strong product mindset, collaboration and communication skills, adaptability, ability to work through ambiguity, define scope, and estimate delivery timelines.
