Legal Counsel (Compliance & ESG)

What you will do

• Conduct legal research, identify applicable legislation, define compliance requirements, and support business decisions.
• Ensure compliance efforts align with global, regulatory, and industry standards.
• Advise on international legal matters and help assess and manage risks across multiple jurisdictions.
• Collaborate with Operations, HR&ESG, Platform, Product, Marketing, clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders on project implementation and partnership negotiations.
• Lead compliance-related projects and support the creation, review, and management of legally supported internal processes.
• Oversee compliance-related document management systems and processes.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of legal experience, ideally combining in-house and law firm roles.
• A university degree in law (Mag. iur.) is required.
• Solid understanding of civil law and experience or familiarity with compliance-related work, legal research, due diligence, or drafting and assessing compliance frameworks.
• Experience or familiarity with ESG-related legislation, especially PPWR/EPR, ESPR, and the EmpCo Directive.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Efficient communication and negotiation skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and project management skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, adapt in a dynamic environment, work independently, and contribute effectively to a collaborative team.
• Interest in or experience with legal technology tools and curiosity about the print-on-demand and e-commerce industries.

Nice to have

• Experience with the U.S. market or an international business environment, especially in a compliance-related role.
• LL.M. from a U.S. university.
• Participation in moot court competitions, scholarships, or other academic distinctions.

Hiring process

• Practical assignment, either take-home or live, for roles where applicable.
• 30–60-minute hiring manager interview followed by a decision, offer, and contract signing process.
