Confirmed Backend Engineer - Train (Java)

Location: Paris, France; hybrid workplace

hirify.global is a community-based travel app enabling carpooling and bus and train travel across 21 countries, with 800 employees across five global offices.

What you will do

• Define scalable solutions for train distribution and support expansion into new European markets and countries.
• Enhance, maintain, monitor, and support the hirify.global train ecosystem.
• Participate in the full application lifecycle, from discovery and design through development, testing, deployment, monitoring, alerting, and production support.
• Lead complex projects involving multiple hirify.global teams and external actors, collaborating with engineering, data, QA, product, and business development.
• Share technical expertise, experiment with new patterns, and help raise engineering standards.
• Use AI tools and explore AI-driven engineering practices to improve productivity and code quality.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in companies with a strong engineering culture.
• Fluency in Java and knowledge of Spring Boot, JUnit, and Mockito.
• Hands-on experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring solutions.
• Knowledge of service-oriented architecture and the ability to select appropriate architectural patterns.
• Understanding of trade-offs between fast iteration and delivery quality.
• Excellent communication skills, humility, and a team-oriented approach.
• Fluency in English.
