Principal Software Engineer (Healthcare)

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of complex software systems and platforms.
• Define engineering standards, best practices, and long-term technical roadmaps while ensuring architectural consistency across teams.
• Translate business needs into scalable, secure, maintainable solutions and partner with product, laboratory, and bioinformatics teams to optimize workflows.
• Conduct technical reviews, lead system design discussions, and drive root-cause analysis and resolution of complex technical issues.
• Mentor and coach engineers, lead technical initiatives, and influence cross-functional decision-making.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, support innovation initiatives, and ensure compliance with security, privacy, regulatory, and company requirements.

Requirements

• B.S. in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience with large-scale or complex systems.
• Expert-level proficiency with C# and .NET, including .NET Core or .NET 6+.
• Extensive experience architecting and building React and TypeScript applications.
• Deep expertise with relational databases such as MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL, including schema design, performance tuning, and data modeling.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and governing RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Strong background in software architecture, system design, engineering best practices, DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and influencing cross-functional decisions, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Required skills include .NET Framework, Agile, SDLC, HTML, and Angular.

Nice to have

• M.S. or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience in healthcare, clinical diagnostics, genomics, or NGS environments.
• Familiarity with laboratory workflows, LIMS systems, or clinical reporting platforms.
• Experience working in regulated environments such as CLIA, CAP, or HIPAA.
• Experience designing secure, compliant, and audit-ready systems.
• Experience with high-performance or data-intensive applications, including optimization and scalability strategies.
