Director, AI Transformation

Location: Fully remote in the United States, limited to California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, or Washington.

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 annual salary plus bonus potential.

What you will do

• Partner with executive leaders to map workflows, identify friction, and prioritize AI and automation opportunities by impact, effort, and risk.
• Design, prototype, and deploy AI agents, automations, and integrations across ERP, ecommerce, Amazon, CRM, email marketing, data, and reporting systems.
• Own technical architecture, data access, agent guardrails, integrations, and deployment controls.
• Lead training, documentation, adoption tracking, process redesign, and internal capability building.
• Own AI governance, including policies, the governance group, agent and tool registry, security and privacy reviews, incident response, and regulatory compliance.
• Define initiative metrics and report value creation, operational results, and AI risk to the CEO and executive leadership team.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience across operations, technology, consulting, or product, including at least 2 years leading hands-on AI, automation, or digital transformation work built personally, with measurable results.
• Hands-on fluency with current AI tools, LLM APIs, agent frameworks, and automation platforms such as Zapier, Make, n8n, or similar.
• Enough Python or JavaScript scripting experience to connect systems and move data.
• Working knowledge of AI governance and data security, including access controls, data privacy, vendor security reviews, and guardrails for agents taking real actions.
• Experience writing and implementing an AI or data policy, redesigning operational processes, managing rollouts, and tracking adoption among non-technical teams.
• Business judgment, including the ability to read a P&L, size opportunities, and distinguish a demonstration from a viable solution.
• Ability to explain technical architecture to engineers and business cases to CEOs.
• Comfort working in a lean, fast-moving company with end-to-end ownership and no team initially.

Nice to have

• Experience in consumer products, beauty, or ecommerce, with familiarity with Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, NetSuite or similar ERP, and Klaviyo or similar tools.
• Experience evaluating and managing vendors, agencies, or freelance developers.
• Data experience, including reporting, metric definition, and cleaning inconsistent data sources.
