What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize scalable data architectures, data models, data marts, and database solutions for an enterprise data warehouse supporting the FTA.
• Create logical and physical database models, including hierarchies, attributes, and metrics, using tools such as Microsoft Visio.
• Integrate data from FTA systems such as NTD and TRAMS and external sources through robust ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Lead data architecture activities, gather requirements, advise development teams, and support enterprise data and analytics governance.
• Assess and optimize AWS infrastructure for performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability, and support migration to Databricks and data lakes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in Business Intelligence, data warehousing, data modeling, and database design.
• Professional experience architecting and optimizing data solutions in a cloud environment, specifically AWS.
• Expertise in dimensional modeling techniques and tools for reporting and analytics.
• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with relational database platforms, specifically SQL Server and MariaDB.
• Experience designing and building complex ETL/ELT processes using SSIS, Python, or Databricks.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders and federal leads.

Nice to have

• Data Modeling Certification from the Data Modeling Institute.
• Experience with the Strategy analytics platform; Strategy certifications are a significant plus.
• Familiarity with AWS DMS and other data replication tools.
• Experience with Power BI, Map Box, or Vitara.
• Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
• Previous experience supporting a federal government agency, particularly the Department of Transportation.
