Senior Service Designer (Healthcare Genomics)

Location: Hybrid, with office attendance in London and office locations in Cambridge, Leeds and London; minimum office attendance is generally twice per month, varying by role and team.

Salary from: £68,500 per year.

What you will do

• Lead the creation of service journeys with programme leads, service owners, designers, user researchers and cross-functional partners.
• Map people, processes, data, tools and dependencies across the Healthcare Genomics Service.
• Facilitate decision-making, co-creation and alignment across multiple teams.
• Translate user needs, research insights, user stories and requirements into human-centred service solutions and design outputs, including user journeys, service maps, design briefs and EPICs.
• Scope and plan iterative, agile design activities while collaborating with product and service delivery teams.
• Advocate for equitable and inclusive services, participate in research and testing, and use learnings to improve services and inform roadmaps.

Requirements

• Proven expertise in service design, hands-on experience with service blueprints, journey maps, service patterns and process mapping, and a strong portfolio demonstrating human-centred design in complex services.
• Experience leading cross-functional work with scientists, technical specialists and delivery teams.
• Strong strategic and systems thinking across front-end, back-end and behind-the-scenes processes, including governance, policy and regulatory constraints.
• Ability to work with complex data flows, technical disciplines and ambiguous problems, translating insights into actionable design solutions.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, including visualising and articulating complex problems, facilitating co-creation and leading human-centred projects.
• Advanced storytelling skills, communicating complex problems, decisions and outcomes to diverse, multidisciplinary and senior audiences.
