Senior Cost Manager / Associate - Data Centres

Location: London or another RLB UK office with hybrid working; monthly trip to Milan.

Independent consultancy providing cost management, quantity surveying, project management, and advisory services for complex built-environment and critical-infrastructure projects.

What you will do

• Lead the delivery of large-scale data centre projects and take responsibility for project performance and outcomes.
• Provide strategic commercial advice, cost planning, forecasting, financial governance, and commercial assurance through all RIBA stages.
• Develop procurement strategies, run tender processes, assess contractor submissions, and recommend value-for-money solutions.
• Manage pre- and post-contract quantity surveying, including contract administration, change, risk, contingency, reporting, dispute resolution, and close-out.
• Build client relationships, support account development and work-winning activities, and manage internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead people and support team members’ career development while promoting compliance, efficiency, best practice, and continual improvement.

Requirements

• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a similar technical discipline.
• MRICS membership or membership of another relevant professional body.
• Experience specifically in data centres in relation to the stated cost management, procurement, contract, and commercial responsibilities.
• Strong technical delivery experience for CSA and/or MEP packages on data centre projects is preferred; strong candidates from non-data-centre sectors will also be considered.
• Experience in pre- and post-contract quantity surveying, including RIBA-stage cost planning, tendering, procurement, post-contract management, change management, reporting, risk, and contingency management.
• Previous employment by a consultancy, general contractor, or end-user client.
• Demonstrable leadership across people, projects, and business activities.
• Experience managing projects and liaising with clients and external consultants throughout all project phases.
• Stakeholder-management experience with a clear focus on developing client accounts, plus strong communication, autonomy, attention to detail, and knowledge of commercial, procurement, contractual, environmental, health, safety, security, and quality requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in other Advanced Technologies sectors, such as healthcare or similar.
• Strong CSA and/or MEP package experience specifically within data centre projects.
