Senior Software Engineer (Linux Kernel)

Location: United States (Remote)

Salary: $121,400–$218,600 per year for US-based candidates; compensation outside the US varies.

What you will do

• Develop features that improve the performance, reliability, and security of the hirify.global Cloud Platform.
• Port hirify.global-specific modifications to newer Linux kernel versions and maintain the custom Linux distribution.
• Debug and resolve issues across complex test and production environments.
• Improve build and test automation to support Continuous Testing.
• Collaborate with platform, application, test, and hardware development teams.
• Work with the open source community to upstream changes and track Linux kernel and operating system developments.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of software development experience in C focused on Linux kernel development, plus scripting with Perl, Python, or Shell.
• Solid understanding of Linux kernel internals and experience with Linux kernel debugging.
• Experience with at least two of these required subsystems: memory management, filesystems, block I/O, TCP/IP stack, or KVM.
• Working knowledge of concurrent programming, data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.
• Knowledge of network protocols including TCP, UDP, IP, Ethernet, QUIC, HTTP, and TLS.
• Ability to collaborate effectively while also working independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
