Business Banker Group Director (Business Banking)

Location: Birmingham, Alabama, United States; Birmingham or Huntsville preferred. Work location: 600 Luckie Dr Suite 200, Birmingham, Alabama 35223. The role includes periodic travel within the assigned market for client meetings and business development events.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Business Banking Relationship Managers across the assigned geography.
• Drive business relationship growth through loan origination, core deposit expansion, referrals, prospecting, relationship expansion, and community engagement.
• Guide deal structuring, business development, portfolio management, loan package reviews, and adherence to credit policy and risk standards.
• Monitor portfolio performance, financial trends, risk-rating movements, credit issues, fraud risks, operational risks, and compliance requirements.
• Partner with branch, credit, Treasury Management, operations, and other internal teams to coordinate solutions and improve client experience.
• Manage team performance through goal setting, coaching, feedback, development planning, pipeline management, and performance metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 10+ years of banking experience with strong emphasis on business lending, credit analysis, and deposit relationship management, including demonstrated leadership or team oversight responsibilities.
• Ability to independently structure and manage complex credit relationships with limited oversight.
• Demonstrated track record of achieving or exceeding loan production, deposit growth, and revenue goals.
• Ability to coach, develop, and influence front-line bankers to drive performance and adherence to standards.
• Strong knowledge of business banking products, credit fundamentals, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices.
• Ability to evaluate lending opportunities and guide deal structure, credit quality, policy adherence, and risk decisions.
• Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate credit, operational, compliance, and fraud-related risks.
• Effective communication, organization, attention to detail, leadership, collaboration, initiative, and accountability.
• Ability to review and validate financial documents, loan files, credit recommendations, client information, and portfolio performance accurately.
• Ability to communicate in person, by phone, and electronically; use computers and digital systems frequently; and sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
• Ability to travel periodically within the assigned market for client meetings, community events, and business development activities.
