Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco or New York City; must be commutable to the NYC headquarters or San Francisco office. In-office 3–4 days per week, with required attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Salary: $240K–$300K per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Manage and grow a lean engineering team while setting the standard for an AI-native engineering organization and remaining hands-on in prototyping, pairing, and implementation.
• Build agentic systems for Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Engineering, including outbound, paid-social insights, development-experience, and agent-powered workflow solutions.
• Drive measurable business outcomes such as outbound replies, demos, closed-won deals, leads, revenue, time saved, or cost avoided.
• Run a delivery loop based on intake, one-week sprints, Friday demos, measurable evaluations, and clean handoffs to partner teams and durable owners.
• Evaluate frontier, cheaper, and open-weight models; establish quality bars and scale successful experiments into shared standards, documentation, and talks.
• Prioritize high-leverage opportunities with leaders across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and People, while maintaining a stack-ranked backlog.

Requirements

• Personally built and shipped agentic systems with real users within the last 12 months; evaluated or piloted systems do not satisfy this requirement.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineers, while remaining hands-on in the code.
• Ability to define meaningful metrics for AI adoption and explain their limitations.
• Experience changing engineering workflows and expectations through AI to increase output rather than headcount.
• Experience working inside Sales, Marketing, or Operations workflows and helping teams adopt new solutions.
• Ability to connect engineering work to business outcomes and report those outcomes clearly.
• Comfort building the necessary process from scratch and keeping it proportional to the team's needs.
