Software Development Engineer in Test (Python)

Location: Remote in Canada; job location listed as Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Salary: CAD 62,500–112,500 per year, plus possible annual bonus, incentives, equity awards, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

What you will do

• Define test strategies and performance quality gates for the Compute division’s Platform Engineering Team.
• Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end test frameworks for code changes and microservices.
• Create and maintain test plans and test cases covering relevant scenarios and edge cases.
• Investigate deployment issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions across different environments.
• Collaborate with engineering groups on integration testing and improve testing environments.
• Automate platform service deployments and verify requirements for safe deployment and rollback strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.
• Knowledge of Python and Pytest, with a good understanding of modern testing methodologies.
• Knowledge of Perl and Golang, together with debugging experience.
• Understanding of the differences between x86 and ARM architectures.
• Knowledge of Debian packaging, apt, and dependency management.
• Strong Linux fundamentals, especially performance tuning, plus Bash and scripting fundamentals.
• Understanding of virtualization and containerization.
• Experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and SaltStack.
