Senior Network Engineer (Cisco, Cloud & Network Automation)

Location: Owings Mills, Maryland, United States. Hybrid role based in the Maryland office, requiring in-office presence two days per week and allowing up to three days per week from home. Remote work beyond this arrangement and alternative office locations are not available.

Base salary: $96,500–$164,000 per year for Maryland, Colorado, Washington, and remote workers. Other listed ranges are $105,000–$180,000 for Washington, D.C. and $120,000–$205,000 for New York and California.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, and hybrid-cloud network solutions.
• Design and support cloud networking across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VNet, and ExpressRoute connectivity.
• Contribute to network standards, reference architectures, modernization roadmaps, hardware and service-provider evaluations, and on-premises/cloud integration.
• Improve network reliability, availability, latency, capacity, observability, and SRE practices through monitoring and performance optimization.
• Develop network automation and Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, Ansible, and Python, and standardize deployment and operational processes.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex incidents, coordinate response and service restoration, perform root cause analysis, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers while contributing to security and architecture reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.

Nice to have

• Expertise in BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, BFD, EVPN/VXLAN, IPSec, MAC-SEC, Zscaler, and zero-trust technologies.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting hybrid-cloud networking across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, and Python.
• Ability to lead complex troubleshooting efforts and resolve high-severity production incidents.
• Strong communication skills and experience collaborating across infrastructure, cloud, security, and application teams.
• Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty.
• Experience with SD-WAN, network observability, modern monitoring platforms, load balancing technologies, and enterprise firewall platforms.
• Experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, and influencing architecture decisions across organizations.
