Designer/Drafter Co-Op (SolidWorks)

Location: San Luis Obispo, California, United States; onsite. Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., from January through June 2027. Six-month Spring 2027 co-op assignment.

Salary: $20-$30 per hour, with actual pay dependent on overall skills.

What you will do

• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to create detailed schematics, designs, and system drawings using SolidWorks.
• Produce accurate technical drawings and precise layouts.
• Perform manufacturing redlines and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
• Support new product development systems and work with the engineering team to maintain high-quality designs.
• Climb ladders as needed to perform job duties and complete other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled student eligible to participate in a university co-op program.
• Available to work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., from January through June.
• Proficiency in CAD software, including SolidWorks.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with engineers and other team members.
• At least 2 years of experience as a drafter.
• Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOM) creation.
• Knowledge of UL508A code requirements.
• Design/build experience in an industrial equipment environment.
• Ability to climb ladders as needed to perform job duties.
