Accounting Manager (Manufacturing)

Location: Los Angeles, CA; onsite full-time. Hybrid and remote work will not be considered. Must meet applicable U.S. export-control and employment eligibility requirements.

Base salary: $130,000–$185,000 annually.

What you will do

• Own inventory accounting, manufacturing cost accounting, cost allocations, reconciliations, and assigned month-end close activities.
• Own recurring complex company transactions, including inter-company arrangements, debt, and CapEx.
• Implement a cost approach with the Controller and maintain the costing program with relevant stakeholders.
• Design, document, implement, and improve accounting policies, internal processes, and financial reporting processes.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Analytics Engineering, FP&A, and manufacturing teams to investigate variances and improve manufacturing cost visibility.
• Support management, investor, and auditor reporting; technical accounting research; audit requests; new accounting pronouncements; accounting systems implementation; and ad hoc accounting needs.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles relevant to manufacturing companies.
• Experience with inventory accounting, manufacturing cost accounting, and absorption or activity-based costing.
• Ability to own complex reconciliations, identify trends and root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Experience supporting financial close, accounting policies, audits, or technical accounting analyses.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication.
• Self-motivated, hands-on approach and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, scaling organization.
• Experience with ERP systems and enthusiasm for using new technology to improve finance processes.
• Willingness to work extended hours as needed to meet close deadlines and business priorities.
• Must meet applicable U.S. export-control and employment eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience at a public manufacturing, oil and gas, or technology-enabled business, ideally combined with Big Four or other public accounting experience.
• Experience drafting technical accounting memoranda involving ASC 606, ASC 340, ASC 842, internally developed software, or liability-versus-equity classification.
• Experience managing portions of complex audit areas.
• SAP or Oracle Fusion ERP experience; exposure to Numeric or Ramp.
• SQL, programming, data manipulation, or finance systems implementation experience.
• Passion for physical products, advanced manufacturing, and operational improvement.
