Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Onsite in New York City or San Francisco, United States; up to 50% travel may be required depending on business needs. Current legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa or work permit sponsorship is not available.

Base salary: $136,000–$216,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional compensation may include bonuses, commissions, equity, and other incentives.

What you will do

• Own the full client relationship from discovery through close and independently run accounts.
• Conduct discovery, architecture reviews, and stakeholder interviews, translating ambiguous problems into scoped deliverables.
• Make and stand behind architecture and build decisions within client environments and constraints.
• Build and deliver production-grade AI systems, software, or enterprise automations that are documented, runnable, and maintainable.
• Identify scope creep, surface delivery risks, and find expansion opportunities.
• Contribute reusable patterns, templates, and components to the practice after each engagement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering or technical delivery experience, including meaningful embedded or client-facing experience.
• Proven solo account delivery, owning a client relationship from kickoff through close without supervision.
• Hands-on depth in one or more of LLM application development, cloud-native architecture with AWS preferred, backend systems at scale, or enterprise business automation.
• Ability to make independent technical decisions and manage delivery quality within client environments.
• Strong communication skills with engineers and VP-level leadership, adapting technical depth without losing accuracy.
• High tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to deliver value before requirements are fully defined.

Nice to have

• Experience building production AI systems, including RAG pipelines, agents, fine-tuned models, or LLM-native applications.
• Hands-on experience with Claude, AWS Bedrock, or equivalent technologies, including model parameters, prompt architecture, and tool use.
• Background in a consulting firm, systems integrator, or professional services environment.
• Familiarity with SOW-based delivery and scope management.
• AWS Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional, or equivalent certification.
• For operational engagements: management consulting, enterprise SaaS implementation, or deep experience in a business function.
• Experience designing and running AI enablement programs for non-technical business audiences.
• Hands-on experience with Zapier, Power Automate, Airtable, or similar tools, and familiarity with Salesforce, Workday, or ServiceNow.
• Experience working cross-functionally across Finance, Legal, and Operations.
