Captive Accounting Manager (Insurance)

Location: Fully remote, but the candidate must be based in Vermont; Williston, VT.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 per year.

What you will do

• Manage a complex portfolio of captive insurance clients, including risk retention groups, insurance reciprocal exchanges, and other complex structures.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statement packages, general ledgers, reconciliations, management reports, budgets, and cash-flow information.
• Advise clients on compliance requirements, investment regulations, accounting developments, and insurance accounting matters.
• Present financial information at client, shareholder, and Board of Director meetings.
• Coordinate auditors, actuaries, tax authorities, regulators, investment professionals, lawyers, TPAs, and bankers.
• Prepare and review regulatory filings, premium tax returns, NAIC filings, audit reports, and compliance testing while training and developing teammates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 3–10 years of experience in a position with similar duties.
• Achievement of Associate in Captive Insurance or a similar designation.
• Up-to-date knowledge of GAAP and insurance accounting principles.
• Accounting research capability.
• Ability to use initiative and good judgment while accomplishing tasks with minimal errors.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with personal computers, including data entry, word processing, spreadsheet applications, and Microsoft Office.
