Legal Researcher (AI)

Location: Remote; full-time salaried applicants must currently reside in AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MA, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OR, TN, TX, UT, VA, or Ontario, Canada.

Base pay: $65,000–$100,000 per year, plus potential equity.

What you will do

• Research regulatory, consumer protection, and product questions and turn findings into practical recommendations for Legal and business leaders.
• Manage complex consumer escalations and regulatory inquiries, identify root causes and legal risks, propose scalable fixes, and develop compliance training.
• Review product features, user flows, and policies with Product, Engineering, and Operations, translating legal requirements into operational decisions.
• Manage entity compliance across US and Canadian jurisdictions, lead operational compliance audits, and monitor high-risk areas.
• Monitor intellectual property infringements and support enforcement strategy, including drafting cease-and-desist letters.
• Identify repetitive legal work and replace it with AI, low-code, and automated workflows.

Requirements

• JD or LLM with a record of high academic performance.
• Strong legal research and writing skills, with the ability to convert complex analysis into clear, practical recommendations.
• Strong organization and project-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously.
• Demonstrated interest in using AI and technology to improve legal work, such as building a tool, automation, or process.
• Ability to independently investigate questions, develop a point of view, explain reasoning, incorporate feedback, and track open items through resolution.
• Ability to handle filings and audits precisely, communicate proactively, flag blockers early, and follow up on overdue items.
