Program Manager I (AI)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid work with attendance at the assigned office at least 3 days per week.

Salary: $94,000–$94,300 USD annual base salary; eligible for equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own assigned lower-to-mid complexity IT projects and workstreams from intake through closeout, including scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, and success criteria.
• Coordinate technical and business partners and facilitate project meetings and working sessions that produce clear decisions and next steps.
• Maintain project status, intake, planning, portfolio data, documentation, dashboards, metrics, and reporting using Jira, Airtable, hirify.global, and other PMO tools.
• Support healthy backlogs, work definitions, Kanban practices, flow visibility, retrospectives, and continuous improvement for IT Operations.
• Identify delivery friction, risks, dependencies, and manual work; recommend improvements using AI tools and automation.
• Partner with senior Program Managers on complex programs and workstreams while developing program management, portfolio, Agile, and stakeholder leadership skills.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of hands-on program management experience with technology, IT, business systems, or cross-functional projects.
• Demonstrated ability to manage project plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, and stakeholder communication.
• Clear, concise written and verbal communication, strong meeting facilitation, and the ability to turn discussions into decisions and actions.
• Working knowledge of Agile practices, Scrum, or Kanban, with comfort handling changing priorities while maintaining visibility and structure.
• Ability to take ownership, ask for help when context or authority is unclear, and distinguish between coordinating and owning a problem.
• Ability to independently build and defend project plans, conduct risk and dependency analysis, and make scope, timeline, and escalation recommendations.
• Experience with Jira or a similar project management platform, plus strong comfort with spreadsheets, dashboards, documentation tools, and collaboration platforms.
• Ability to independently evaluate, correct, and take accountability for AI-generated work.
• Curiosity about systems, processes, and organizations; receptiveness to feedback; and interest in growing into broader program ownership.
