Software Engineer, Backend (Analytics)

Location: New York or San Francisco, United States; hybrid with three days per week in the office.

Salary: $189K–$255.5K per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs powering creator insights at scale.
• Build and maintain data pipelines, scheduled jobs, and data models in partnership with Data Engineering.
• Improve data quality, monitoring, performance, and reliability so creators can trust the insights they receive.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists, and engineers to turn ambiguous questions into well-scoped solutions.
• Drive technical design, write tested and maintainable code, and mentor teammates.

Requirements

• 3+ or 5+ years of backend software development experience building production services and APIs.
• Strong programming skills in Python or a similar language, including testing, CI/CD, and monitoring.
• Strong SQL skills and experience designing and optimizing relational data models, such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with data-intensive work, including batch or streaming pipelines, scheduled jobs, event logging, or serving analytical data; relevant technologies may include Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Kinesis, dbt, data lakes, or data warehouses.
• Experience ensuring data accuracy and reliability, including idempotency, backfills, and handling late or duplicate data.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to partner with product, design, and data teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with data quality, lineage, or observability tooling.
• Experience building customer-facing analytics, reporting, or insights features.
• Familiarity with metric design and data modeling for analytics and experimentation.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch or OLAP.
