Software Engineer, Backend (Ruby)

Location: New York, New York; hybrid work arrangement with the role based in the New York City office.

Salary: $131,000–$169,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own large-scale projects independently from discovery through launch, focusing on outcomes and customer impact.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers and product managers, to solve customer challenges and develop features.
• Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing systems.
• Add capabilities to high-volume, fault-tolerant processing infrastructure.
• Enhance testing, monitoring, and continuous deployment infrastructure.
• Keep highly sensitive data compartmentalized and secure while promoting engineering excellence through technical leadership, knowledge-sharing, and mentorship.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in server-side languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, or Ruby.
• Solid SQL skills and understanding of database fundamentals.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, including basic deployment and monitoring.
• Interest in helping junior developers and contributing to team knowledge sharing.
• Experience collaborating with designers and product managers on feature development.
• Ability to build, deploy, and maintain large-scale, complex applications.
