Senior Software Engineer (Go)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States, with a preference for the East Coast Time Zone.

Salary: $124,350–$160,000 annually, with a possible annual bonus and benefits depending on the position.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and maintain scalable, secure backend systems and REST APIs supporting web and mobile applications.
• Integrate multiple platforms into a comprehensive authorization solution for the Higher Ed ecosystem.
• Translate technical designs and product requirements into maintainable software in collaboration with engineering leadership.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver platform functionality.
• Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
• Optimize performance, database queries, scalability, monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution, including off-hours support when needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of applicable experience in software engineering or backend development.
• Strong experience with server-side programming languages such as Python, Java, Node, Ruby, or Go.
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs and working with microservices in low-latency, high-availability environments.
• Understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL and non-relational databases such as MongoDB and DynamoDB.
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of system performance optimization, caching strategies, and distributed systems concepts.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as New Relic, Datadog, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, web security best practices, and OWASP guidelines.
• A related bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

• Experience with authorization, permissions, identity, or access-management platform services.
