Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site

Base salary: $160,000–$250,000 per year; stock options may be offered in addition.

Deploy is an AI infrastructure platform providing optimized inference for open-source and proprietary models used in content safety, deepfake detection, sponsorship intelligence, and IP and publicity protection.

What you will do

• Design, code, train, tune, deploy, and continuously improve machine learning models for production use cases.
• Gather and refine data, analyze real-world results, and improve model accuracy, speed, throughput, and uptime.
• Develop novel, accurate, and performant machine learning algorithms for large-scale use.
• Write scalable, performant, secure, and cross-platform code while contributing improvements to product and backend systems.
• Conduct metric-driven research experiments and improve engineering standards, tooling, processes, testing, and security.
• Mentor and onboard junior ML engineers and collaborate cross-functionally.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience building production-scale machine learning models.
• Strong knowledge of modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Expertise in Python and/or shell scripting, particularly for data analysis.
• Experience writing code and training models across distributed systems.
• Ability to understand and make well-reasoned feature design tradeoffs and lead end-to-end development of new products.
• Deep knowledge in at least one machine learning focus area, such as computer vision or NLP.
• Strong commitment to code quality, automated testing, engineering best practices, correctness, and attention to detail.
• Comfort with ambiguity, collaborative solution scoping, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a bias toward action.
