Lead Application Architect (Azure)

Location: Remote nationwide in the United States; occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings may be required.

Salary: $129,300–$177,800 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead architecture and design for enterprise-scale applications using microservices, domain-driven design, API-first architecture, and cloud-native principles.
• Define target-state architectures, modernization roadmaps, architecture standards, reference architectures, and engineering best practices.
• Design secure, scalable, resilient Azure solutions and guide the adoption of AKS, App Services, API Management, Event Hub, Service Bus, Azure Functions, and Azure Storage.
• Design and govern event-driven architectures, messaging patterns, event contracts, topic governance, and asynchronous enterprise integrations using Kafka and related streaming technologies.
• Champion DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, security scanning, Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, and standardized deployment patterns.
• Partner with product, engineering, security, data, and business teams; mentor technical staff; lead architecture reviews and present recommendations to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, application architecture, or enterprise architecture roles, including 5+ years designing and implementing enterprise-scale distributed systems.
• Strong expertise in microservices architecture, API design, application integration patterns, and distributed systems.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and cloud-native development.
• Experience designing event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka or equivalent messaging platforms.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Strong knowledge of security, scalability, resiliency, and observability best practices.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and influence architecture decisions across multiple programs.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
