Cloud-Native Architect (Kubernetes)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

Salary: $130,000–$180,000 annually, based on experience

What you will do

• Define enterprise microservices architecture standards, service boundaries, Domain-Driven Design principles, and API governance practices.
• Lead the modernization of monolithic applications into scalable, independently deployable cloud-native services.
• Design secure, resilient, highly available distributed systems using REST APIs, gRPC, asynchronous messaging, and event-driven architectures.
• Architect Kubernetes-based platform capabilities, including service mesh, API gateways, identity management, observability, and platform automation.
• Establish CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, deployment, and system reliability strategies.
• Lead architecture reviews and technology evaluations while mentoring architects, technical leads, and senior engineers.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen, Green Card holder, EAD holder, or H-1B transfer candidate; new H-1B visa petitions cannot be sponsored.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including software architecture and cloud-native solution design.
• Deep expertise in microservices, Domain-Driven Design, distributed systems, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, cloud-native platforms, and at least one of AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Java, Go, C#, or Python, plus experience with APIs, messaging, event streaming, and highly available production systems.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or Bicep, along with strong leadership and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building Internal Developer Platforms and platform engineering capabilities.
• Hands-on experience with Istio, Linkerd, Envoy, Consul Connect, Argo CD, or Flux.
• Experience with FinOps, cloud governance, regulated industries, public speaking, open-source leadership, or technical publications.
• Cloud architecture certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
