Field Engineer (South Wales) (Telecoms)

Location: Field based in South Wales, United Kingdom; regular travel, climbing and rooftop work required.

What you will do

• Install and maintain fixed and mobile network infrastructure and hirify.global business solutions.
• Provide service, diagnose faults and complete rectification across relevant telecommunications technologies.
• Work on fixed and mobile infrastructure, including regular climbing and rooftop-based activities.
• Meet quality, health and safety and performance standards while working indoors and outdoors.
• Participate in a 24/7 callout rota and/or shift pattern and travel when required.
• Manage physical field duties including manual lifting, stair climbing, walking and extended periods on your feet.

Requirements

• Formal telecommunications or electronic qualification, or equivalent experience from previous roles.
• Experience with multi-vendor CPE including Cisco, Juniper and ADVA, and core transmission technologies including DWDM and Ethernet.
• Knowledge of 3G, 4G and 5G mobile networking technologies and associated equipment.
• Knowledge of microwave radio, switch and field DC power systems, and fibre and copper cabling and termination.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, including substantial lone working.
• Ability to work safely under pressure, meet tight deadlines, manage workload and learn new skills quickly.
• PC skills and IT literacy.
• Valid full UK or EU Category B driving licence.
• Excellent customer-facing skills.
• Ability to achieve and maintain SC clearance; eligibility requires demonstrating five years of UK residency.
• Ability to achieve and maintain Advanced Climber/Tower Rescue Certification and pass regular health assessments in accordance with MATS guidance.
