Access Civil Engineer (Power Transmission & Distribution)

Location: Power_T&D_Alness_Asti_Project, United Kingdom; the role includes site visits and construction support.

What you will do

• Create feasibility, preliminary, and detailed designs for access roads and public highway layouts, including junctions, geometric alignments, grading, and corridor modelling.
• Perform swept path analysis using vehicle tracking software for large plant and optimise access route alignments.
• Prepare feasibility studies and optioneering assessments for alternative access routes, and respond to technical queries from construction teams, clients, and third parties.
• Deliver designs within multidisciplinary teams, programme, and budget; attend client design reviews and maintain controlled design deliverables.
• Support installation and commissioning through site visits and RFI responses, while liaising with planning and highway authorities to secure technical approvals.
• Apply safe-by-design principles, support method statements and construction risk assessments, and maintain Designers Risk Assessments under CDM 2015.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of civil engineering experience delivering similar projects in one or more sectors.
• Strong understanding and experience in access and highway design, including drainage and earthworks.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or similar software.
• Familiarity with Eurocodes, British Standards, CDM 2015 regulations, and DMRB.
• Ability to produce and check engineering drawings and calculations to a good standard.
• Confidence working under minimal supervision and supervising less experienced or junior staff.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and with clients.
• Full UK driving licence.

Nice to have

• Experience in the power transmission or distribution sector.
• Experience working in a CDM-regulated environment.
• Familiarity with document management systems.
• Working towards IEng or CEng registration with a relevant professional body such as IET or ICE.
