Technical Director Mechanical Engineering (Data Center)

Location: London, England, United Kingdom; frequent travel across the EMEA region is required, typically 25%–50%.

What you will do

• Lead the EMEA Mechanical Engineering team and set the strategic direction for mechanical engineering design, construction, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee planning, design, execution, site adaptation, commissioning, and transition to operations for multiple data center engineering projects.
• Own high-level schematic system design, specifications, submittal reviews, design document reviews, installation oversight, engineering analysis, and design output.
• Manage internal and external resources, project teams, contractors, vendors, resource allocation, project workflows, and Statements of Work.
• Coordinate with executive leadership, customers, sales, operations, finance, legal, HR, design, development, and other cross-functional teams.
• Drive risk management, emergency response, QA/QC, technical due diligence, lessons learned, and continuous improvement across the EMEA portfolio.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical field from an accredited university or college.
• 10+ years of experience in data center mechanical engineering management or equivalent managerial positions; 15 years is preferred.
• Data center experience.
• Experience in EMEA construction markets.
• Understanding of Revit, BIM, and Navisworks environments.
• Working knowledge of critical cooling infrastructure and critical power infrastructure within data center projects.
• Working knowledge of building and fire codes and ordinances.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting information to executive management, operations, sales engineering, and finance.
• National and international travel, expected to be 25%–50% and subject to change as the business evolves.

Nice to have

• Accredited engineering credentials, such as Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer.
• Experience in North American construction markets.
