Senior Content Strategist (Senior Consultant, Experience & Design)

Location: Fully remote; applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. and reside in one of Alabama, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Virginia. Availability during core business hours is required. Occasional travel to client sites or company meetings may be required.

Salary: $96,132–$125,000 hiring range; $96,132 minimum, $124,971 midpoint, and $162,462 maximum. Discretionary performance bonus may apply.

What you will do

• Reimagine a complex public-sector content ecosystem and translate technical information into accessible, plain-language web content.
• Architect a user-centered Drupal experience, including content types, taxonomies, navigation, information architecture, and migration source documentation.
• Lead content audits, assess large inventories, and determine which content to retain, consolidate, or retire while mapping legacy URLs.
• Plan and conduct evaluative research such as card sorting, tree testing, heuristic reviews, and usability testing.
• Lead UX writing, content design, page mock-ups, stakeholder workshops, governance documentation, and knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, engineers, client stakeholders, and subject matter experts to align delivery, manage risks, and support adoption.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in content strategy, information architecture, UX research, and content governance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or three additional years of equivalent related experience.
• Proven Drupal experience, including content types, taxonomies, and modular design.
• Experience migrating complex legacy enterprise sites such as SharePoint to modern CMS platforms.
• Experience designing sitemaps, taxonomies, and navigation structures for large websites.
• Deep knowledge of content audit methods and experience consolidating or retiring redundant, outdated, or trivial content.
• Hands-on experience planning and conducting card sorting, tree testing, and usability testing and translating findings into design decisions.
• Ability to apply UX writing and plain-language principles to complex, technical, or regulatory content with accessibility in mind.
• Experience facilitating workshops, managing stakeholders and subject matter experts, and creating governance documentation, workflows, and ownership models.
• Excellent written, verbal, organizational, analytical, consultative, and prioritization skills; advanced proficiency is required.
• U.S. work authorization and the ability to clear a background check before starting.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, communicate effectively, work in an office environment when needed, and perform occasional light lifting up to 10 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience with Optimal Workshop or UserTesting for tree testing and card sorting.
• Experience creating page mock-ups or wireframes from an established design system or component library.
• Content governance experience for large public-sector or enterprise websites.
• Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA and plain-language requirements for government content.
