Math Instructional Coach (Math Education)

Location: Must be based in San Diego, US and willing to travel approximately 30–50% of the time to schools and districts.

Salary: $90,000–$110,000 base salary per year; target total compensation approximately $130,000 including a performance-based bonus. Bonus potential is uncapped.

What you will do

• Support math implementation as a Math Success specialist and help transform how teachers think about and teach mathematics.
• Design and deliver personalized professional development journeys, coaching plans, workshops, and hands-on sessions for schools and teachers.
• Coach teachers in real classrooms through lesson observation, live modeling, feedback cycles, and ongoing support.
• Help develop thinking classrooms where students reason, explore, and engage deeply with mathematics.
• Drive measurable improvements in teacher confidence, student engagement, and conceptual understanding.
• Build relationships and a community of math educators across the region while partnering with educators and school leaders.

Requirements

• Strong background in mathematics, math education, and instructional coaching.
• Current or former math teacher with a clear academic and professional focus on mathematics and its teaching.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting other educators in their instructional practice.
• Passion for bringing cutting-edge research into the classroom and positively impacting students and teachers.
• Expertise in creating meaningful relationships and generating opportunities with district-level administrators or equivalent stakeholders.
• Strong educator-to-educator communication and relationship-building skills.
• Hands-on approach and willingness to build processes and approaches from scratch.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, creative problem-solving, and enthusiasm for early-stage challenges.
• Appetite for travel and visiting schools and classrooms in the region.

Nice to have

• Experience teaching or coaching elementary or K–8 mathematics.
