Director, Life & Retirement Analytical Engineering (Insurance)

Location: Remote; periodic travel may be required.

Salary: $124,200–$175,800 annually plus bonus; compensation varies by experience and location.

What you will do

• Own the strategy, roadmap, standards, delivery performance, and business outcomes for Life & Retirement analytical engineering.
• Lead the development of governed data products, semantic models, curated datasets, reusable transformations, and metric definitions.
• Provide architecture direction and quality oversight for cloud-based analytical data solutions, including data quality, testing, governance, observability, reliability, automation, and CI/CD.
• Oversee the analytical engineering portfolio from intake through implementation, adoption, production support, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Life & Retirement, Analytics, Enterprise Data, Architecture, Security, Data Governance, and Technology teams on the enterprise data warehouse and related initiatives.
• Lead, coach, and develop technical professionals while building technical leadership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, business intelligence, data modeling, or related disciplines.
• 3+ years of experience leading technical teams, technical leads, or a significant technical delivery portfolio.
• Success building trusted, reusable analytical data products, governed metric and semantic layers, and scalable cloud-based data solutions.
• Advanced expertise in analytical engineering, data architecture, data modeling, and enterprise data product development.
• Ability to establish technical direction and oversee complex analytical engineering initiatives.
• Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, security, and enterprise architecture principles.
• Experience translating business priorities into technical roadmaps and measurable outcomes, leading organizational change, implementing scalable engineering practices, and driving adoption.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication, collaboration, decision-making, stakeholder management, and business acumen.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt or comparable transformation tools, Power BI semantic models, SQL, Python, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience in insurance, retirement, financial services, or another regulated industry.
• Master's degree, MBA, or advanced quantitative degree.
