Senior Associate Engineer (Air and Fuel Systems)

Location: Peterborough, United Kingdom; onsite in the office five days per week with less than 10% travel.

Salary: £41,593, dependent upon experience.

hirify.global designs, tests, and manufactures construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives. The Industrial Power Systems Division develops 0.5–18L Cat and Perkins engines for marine, petroleum, industrial, electric generator, and locomotive applications, including green energy solutions.

What you will do

• Develop, validate, and integrate air and fuel system components, including turbochargers, manifolds, EGR systems, and low- and high-pressure fuel systems.
• Conduct component and system risk assessments through FMEA to identify design risks and validation needs.
• Define test plans, boundary conditions, and success criteria, and coordinate testing with internal and external partners.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary global engineering teams and suppliers to meet customer, durability, functional, quality, and cost requirements.
• Investigate quality and manufacturing issues, determine root causes, implement containment, and develop permanent corrective actions.
• Plan and manage project and sub-project deliverables, conduct design reviews, communicate progress, apply APQP methods with suppliers, and independently lead less complex projects from start to finish.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of the product development cycle from concept to production.
• Strong technical expertise and a structured approach to analyzing and resolving technical problems, supported by continuous learning.
• Ability to identify root causes, evaluate costs, benefits, and risks, and break down complex problems into effective solutions.
• Effective communication skills, including accurately transmitting, receiving, and interpreting ideas, information, and needs.
• Sound judgment, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to apply appropriate tools and techniques.
• Foundational project management knowledge, including project phases, deliverables, critical paths, and project management tools.
• Ability to apply product testing methods and tools to develop, execute, and document testing strategies throughout product development.
• Accuracy and attention to detail, including applying quality checks, minimizing errors, and understanding their impact.
• Willingness and ability to work on defence-related projects as required.
