Senior/Associate Mechanical Engineer (Building Services)

Location: Leeds, United Kingdom, with hybrid working.

Salary: £45,000–£85,000 per year.

What you will do

• Deliver mechanical engineering design for building-services projects from feasibility through detailed design and construction.
• Design heating, ventilation, cooling, domestic water, and related specialist systems, including BMS specifications.
• Prepare and check calculations, drawings, specifications, tender and construction design packages, and respond to contractor queries.
• Coordinate mechanical services with architectural, structural, electrical, and sustainability disciplines while supporting technical compliance and quality assurance.
• Survey buildings, verify existing mechanical installations, and provide commentary on their condition.
• Attend construction sites for mechanical monitoring, clerk of works duties, and asset capture surveys across the North.

Requirements

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Demonstrable experience delivering mechanical designs within a consultancy or design-and-build environment.
• Project design responsibility from feasibility through detailed design and construction.
• Strong technical skills and experience using relevant design software, including Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guides, and industry standards.
• Experience managing engineers and delivering a quality service to clients and colleagues.
• Experience managing multiple deadlines and other engineers in an organised, detail-oriented manner.
• Track record in a similar role and experience using relevant MS and design software.
• Collaborative, proactive, client-focused approach with a willingness to learn, share knowledge, and support colleagues.

Nice to have

• Experience using IES.
• Working towards professional registration with CIBSE or IMechE.
