Senior Cloud Security Engineer (GCP/Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Own the cloud security roadmap, standards, tooling, and security posture for GCP and Kubernetes environments.
• Secure IAM, network segmentation, workloads, and data access to BigQuery, Bigtable, and other data stores.
• Build secure-by-default foundations, including hardened base images, secure Kubernetes configurations, and policy-as-code guardrails for Kubernetes and Terraform.
• Automate cloud misconfiguration remediation, security controls, CI/CD security fixes and alerts, secrets management, and vulnerability management.
• Review services and designs through lightweight threat modeling, lead security incidents from containment through post-mortems, and manage external penetration tests.
• Serve as a security expert across R&D, mentor engineers, and help teams adopt AI services safely.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in security, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering, including significant production cloud security ownership.
• Deep hands-on experience securing a public cloud environment; GCP is strongly preferred, with AWS or Azure also considered.
• Production Kubernetes security experience with RBAC, network policies, admission control, and workload hardening.
• Strong Terraform or similar skills and Python or Go skills, with experience building security automation beyond off-the-shelf tools.
• Sound judgment when prioritizing risk, including deciding when to block, guide, or accept.
• Practical use of AI to scale security work, such as LLM-assisted triage, generating and testing policy-as-code, or automating design reviews.
• Familiarity with the security risks of LLM APIs and AI services in production, or willingness to build this expertise.

Nice to have

• Application security or DevSecOps experience.
• Experience securing data platforms and enforcing data access governance.
• Previous DevOps, SRE, or Platform engineering experience before moving into security.
