Senior Manager - Data Engineering (Generative AI)

What you will do

• Architect and maintain a self-service “paved road” for data engineering, including pipeline templates, CI/CD checks, and dbt testing suites.
• Translate data architecture blueprints into production-ready engineering standards, reusable pipeline patterns, Gold-layer models, and enterprise data registries through Informatica.
• Lead, mentor, and develop an internal cohort of 8–10 data engineers, focusing on technical capability at ecosystem scale rather than day-to-day coding.
• Govern external partner delivery through technical acceptance criteria, runtime targets, milestone gates, fixed-outcome Statements of Work, and self-onboarding standards.
• Establish observability, data quality monitoring, operational alerting, and downstream SLA frameworks while improving cloud compute and storage efficiency with FinOps partners.
• Drive incremental delivery, technical-debt retirement, and practical adoption of Generative and Agentic AI for testing, documentation, and backend engineering workflows.

Requirements

• Extensive experience leading and mentoring data engineering teams, including managing 8–10 direct reports and leading at an ecosystem level.
• Deep expertise in modern cloud data platforms, primarily Google Cloud Platform/GCP, with supporting knowledge of Databricks, and enterprise governance suites such as Informatica/IICS.
• Experience translating architectural blueprints into production-ready ELT pipelines, Medallion/Kimball data models, and automated dbt transformation workflows.
• Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform, CI/CD deployment pipelines, automated testing, and comprehensive observability suites.
• Commercial experience scoping fixed-outcome Statements of Work, defining technical acceptance criteria, auditing vendor deliverables, and administering augmented resources.
• Collaborative leadership skills and the ability to partner with Data Science, Full-Stack Engineering, Analytics, and Product teams.
• A strong bias for action, composure under delivery pressure, and the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs as business value to commercial leaders.
