Platform Hardware Design Engineer (High-Speed PCB)

Location: On-site in Penang, Malaysia; Shift 1 (Malaysia).

What you will do

• Design and develop complex platform hardware solutions, including schematics, component selection, board-level architecture, and subsystem integration.
• Translate platform requirements into electrical specifications, placement constraints, routing requirements, and implementation guidelines.
• Develop and review high-speed interfaces including DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, CXL, and other high-speed communication interfaces.
• Define PCB stack-ups, impedance control, return paths, power delivery, and routing constraints; review layouts for signal integrity, power integrity, manufacturability, and design quality.
• Lead board bring-up, electrical validation, system-level SI/PI and timing analysis, root-cause analysis, and hardware debugging using advanced laboratory equipment.
• Collaborate with layout, package, architecture, firmware, validation, and manufacturing teams; mentor junior engineers and contribute to design methodologies and validation processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in platform hardware design, board design, electrical engineering, or related disciplines.
• Strong experience in schematic capture and complex PCB design, with knowledge of digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuit design.
• Experience developing and reviewing high-speed board-level implementations and strong understanding of high-speed interfaces and platform architectures.
• Working knowledge of Signal Integrity and Power Integrity principles.
• Experience with board bring-up, validation, hardware debugging, and oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, or related laboratory equipment.
• Intermediate to advanced English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cadence Allegro, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, or other PCB design tools.
• Experience defining routing constraints and PCB design guidelines, and reviewing and approving schematics and PCB layouts.
• Understanding of PCIe Gen4/Gen5/Gen6, DDR4/DDR5, USB4, Ethernet, and high-speed SerDes interfaces.
• Experience with SI/PI simulations using Cadence Sigrity, Ansys HFSS, SIwave, or SPICE-based simulators.
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC design techniques and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with FPGA, CPLD, ASIC, and Intel platform architectures.
• Experience with DFM, DFT, reliability methodologies, Python, automation scripting, or design workflow automation.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical design reviews.
