Director of General Ledger Accounting

Location: San Mateo, United States; hybrid

Compensation: $260K plus equity

What you will do

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger close activities, including close calendars, deliverables, dependencies, reviews, and issue resolution.
• Review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, balance sheet and income statement fluctuations, and unusual activity.
• Coordinate accounts payable, revenue and accounts receivable, payroll, equity, fixed assets, leases, intercompany, treasury, and tax workstreams.
• Lead NetSuite accounting processes, including workflows, chart of accounts governance, reporting, integrations, system enhancements, and close controls.
• Maintain accounting policies, close procedures, reconciliation standards, review controls, audit support, and resolution of control deficiencies.
• Automate journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting; improve scalability and close efficiency; and assess accounting impacts of new entities, transactions, systems, and initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 4+ years managing teams and leading the financial close.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Hands-on NetSuite experience covering close management, financial reporting, and accounting process improvements.
• Ability to coordinate multiple accounting workstreams, manage dependencies, and resolve issues under tight deadlines.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting issues clearly to finance and business partners.

Nice to have

• CPA certification.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and consolidation.
