AI Developer Experience Engineer

Location: Remote US

Base salary: $170,000–$220,000 per year. Total compensation may also include variable compensation, benefits, and equity.

What you will do

• Build and maintain hirify.global plugins across AI marketplaces, agent directories, IDE extension stores, and AI app builders.
• Own integrations with AI coding tools, agent frameworks, platforms, MCP clients, and CLIs; test them across Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, VS Code, and other clients.
• Identify and resolve friction in database creation, connections, migrations, query debugging, agent context, tool descriptions, skills, documentation, and error messages.
• Build evaluations, benchmarks, dashboards, and instrumentation for real agent tasks, recommendations, database creation, connection times, MCP versus CLI usage, and session failures.
• Build demos and sample applications, and create documentation, guides, blog posts, videos, and conference presentations about using databases with AI.
• Work with the MCP server, CLI, API, and documentation teams to improve the developer experience and communicate findings to customers and the broader developer audience.

Requirements

• Daily use of AI coding agents and strong opinions about what makes them effective.
• Experience building an MCP server, plugin, CLI, or SDK used by real developers.
• Software engineering experience with languages such as TypeScript and Go, plus comfort with APIs, OAuth, and the command line.
• Experience writing documentation, blog posts, and/or creating video content.
• Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly in writing, on video, on stage, and with customers and broad audiences.
• Experience with relational databases including Postgres, MySQL, or SQLite; schema design, migrations, connection handling, and running Postgres or MySQL in production.
• Data fluency, including designing evaluations, writing queries for dashboards, and distinguishing real trends from noise.
• Independence and speed in identifying gaps, shipping fixes, and communicating outcomes.
• Genuine curiosity about the AI tooling landscape and a habit of keeping up with new tools.

Nice to have

• Contributions to the MCP specification, SDKs, or popular open-source MCP servers.
• Experience writing agent skills, plugins, or rules files for Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex.
• Experience with LLM evaluation tools and building agent benchmarks.
• Experience with AEO or GEO, or tracking how LLMs surface and recommend products.
• A blog, YouTube channel, or GitHub followed by developers.
• Experience with Vitess, database sharding, or operating databases at scale.
