Software Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; office-centric hybrid schedule with in-office days on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

Base salary: $171,000–$190,000 per year, plus potential equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build the execution engine and platform layer powering AI Teammates across Asana engineering.
• Develop model evaluation and rollout systems, proactive blocked-work detection, execution quality infrastructure, tool orchestration, and platform APIs.
• Implement asynchronous jobs and algorithms that efficiently traverse the Asana Work Graph.
• Work with legal to implement data ownership rules through clear and maintainable technical solutions.
• Lead impactful projects and deliver features used by large organizations.
• Collaborate with product, design, legal, and other engineering teams.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience working in large, well-maintained codebases.
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Sound judgment when balancing delivery speed, software quality, and long-term maintainability.
• Attention to detail and commitment to an exceptional user experience.
• Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with willingness to learn and apply them.
• Ability to work from the San Francisco office under an office-centric hybrid schedule.
