Principal Data Scientist (AI/ML)

Base pay: $154,400–$227,750 USD annually; additional bonus and/or equity opportunities apply to US candidates only.

What you will do

• Work with product management to understand product vision and user engagement strategy for the WSS Managed Insights Team.
• Identify AI opportunities, prototype and iterate models, and deploy them across millions of devices.
• Partner with Data Scientists and Software Engineers to deliver the Data Science Roadmap.
• Balance business needs with technical constraints and maintain subject-matter expertise in the assigned area.
• Provide progress, issue, and risk updates to stakeholders; influence decisions and problem solving across teams.
• Conduct A/B testing and experimentation, and provide training and demonstrations to support, sales, onboarding, and other cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or PhD in a highly quantitative field, such as Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operational Research, Statistics, Mathematics, or Physics.
• 10+ years of industry experience in predictive modelling and data science roles.
• Extensive experience with statistics, mathematics, algorithms, and programming languages.
• Expert knowledge of SQL, Python, and PySpark.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with structured and unstructured data management and modern data transformation methodologies.
• Deep understanding of current machine learning concepts and tools.
• Ability to communicate data insights through clear stories and visualizations.
• Excellent interpersonal and project management skills; ability to work independently, collaborate cross-functionally, manage multiple work streams, and provide timely leadership updates.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced, global, multicultural, in-person, and virtual team environments, with hands-on experimentation and rapid problem solving.

Nice to have

• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow/Keras, PyTorch, Spark MLlib, or Scikit-Learn.
• In-depth knowledge of deep learning areas such as natural language generation, LLMs, sentiment analysis, recommendation systems, or computer vision.
• Experience with cloud computing and MLOps, especially AWS SageMaker, EMR, Redshift, Azure, Docker, or Airflow.
• Experience with Microsoft Graph API.
