У роли чёткий фокус на аэрокосмических композитах, заметная ответственность за весь цикл проектирования и участие в создании многоразового корабля; при этом быстрый темп может означать неопределённость, типичную для растущей космической компании.
Composite CAD Design Engineer (Aerospace) (Siemens NX/Fibersim): Designing and developing composite and metallic structures for the Nyx modular reusable orbital vehicle with an accent on composite CAD modelling, layup definition, manufacturability, and structural integration. Focus on creating ply books and technical documentation, integrating FEA and test feedback, managing configuration and mass, and collaborating across spacecraft engineering disciplines.
Location: Munich, Bavaria, Germany
Company
The Exploration Company is developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle designed to carry cargo and eventually humans.
What you will do
Design, model, and integrate composite parts and assemblies for spacecraft, ensuring performance, manufacturability, and compliance with mission requirements.
Define and mature the vehicle’s composite architecture from concept through detailed design and industrialization, while supporting metallic part development.
Build Siemens NX composite CAD models, define layups, create ply books, and integrate composite structures with metallic and non-metallic parts.
Collaborate with manufacturing, process, mechanical, structural, and thermal engineers on materials, processes, tolerances, FEA iterations, trade-offs, and test feedback.
Prepare and release technical drawings, ply books, and design documentation; participate in design reviews and support qualification of composite parts.
Maintain configuration control, contribute to mass-budget tracking and design-tool improvements, and participate in co-engineering with mission analysis, propulsion, avionics, GNC, and systems teams.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
At least 3 years of experience in composite design for aerospace or other high-performance applications.
Experience designing and developing metallic parts for aerospace or high-performance applications, including relevant materials and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency with Siemens NX; Fibersim or similar composite design modules are preferred.
Strong knowledge of aerospace vehicle design and its associated challenges.
Knowledge of composite materials, laminate theory, failure criteria, and manufacturing processes including RTM, prepreg, and sandwich construction.
Experience designing and verifying composite structures, including ply book creation and documentation.
Fluent English.
Strong oral and written communication, analysis and problem-solving, organisation, and task-prioritisation skills; a positive and flexible attitude.
Behaviours consistent with the values of Vision, Mission, Teamwork, Integrity, and Excellence.
Nice to have
German, French, or Italian language skills.
