Remote Shopify Developer (Shopify)

Location: Fully remote; applicants are welcomed from around the world. Availability required Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

Starting base pay for candidates in California, New York, Washington, and Colorado: $17–$35 per hour. Compensation may vary by experience, qualifications, skills test performance, geographic location, and seniority; candidates outside these states may fall outside the listed range.

What you will do

• Build, customize, migrate, and maintain high-performing eCommerce websites and custom Shopify themes.
• Create custom sections, blocks, reusable front-end components, metafields, metaobjects, and advanced Shopify features using Liquid and Storefront APIs.
• Integrate and customize third-party apps, extensions, payment integrations, shipping methods, taxes, and Shopify configurations.
• Optimize websites for page speed, scalability, SEO, conversion rate optimization, responsive behavior, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Transform PSD layouts into pixel-perfect HTML5/CSS3 templates, manage code with Git or SVN, and thoroughly QA work.
• Collaborate with team leads, project managers, and designers while managing multiple projects, deadlines, improvements, and deliverables.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of Shopify website development experience and strong Shopify platform knowledge.
• Experience creating custom sections from scratch, reusable front-end components, and customized Shopify themes.
• Expert-level Shopify Liquid knowledge; advanced knowledge of Metafields, Metaobjects, and the Shopify Search & Discovery app.
• Familiarity with Shopify CLI and proficiency with the Shopify Storefront GraphQL API.
• Experience with Shopify JS APIs, including Storefront, AJAX Cart, Sections, and related APIs.
• Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and ECMAScript; experience with jQuery.
• Strong understanding of responsive web design, cross-browser compatibility, W3C standards, semantic HTML, and accessibility guidelines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, proactive ownership, ability to manage multiple projects, attention to detail, organization, and ability to learn quickly.
• Excellent written and spoken English, ability to work in a diverse multicultural remote environment, availability for 40 hours per week, and a reliable remote workstation with computer, audio/video equipment, internet, and power.
• Passion for building and growing in a startup-style environment.

Nice to have

• Shopify Certification.
• Understanding of Shopify Admin API and Storefront API layers.
• Knowledge of SCSS, WordPress, Magento, BigCommerce, Ruby, PHP, MySQL, and AJAX.
• Experience integrating third-party Shopify apps and extensions.
• Experience with Shopify SEO, CRO, site speed and performance improvements, and eCommerce migrations to Shopify.
