Principal Product Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Santa Clara, CA, United States; onsite role

Expected base pay: $136,880–$205,000 per annum. Bonus and equity plans are also available.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership from product development through production and drive scalable productization decisions.
• Serve as a primary technical stakeholder during NPI, guiding characterization, debug, qualification, and production-readiness activities.
• Align design engineering, operations, program management, quality, and leadership teams on technically sound solutions.
• Define and defend product quality, reliability, performance, and cost targets using data and system-level impact.
• Lead technical risk assessments and trade-off discussions across engineering, operations, and management.
• Represent Product Engineering in customer interactions and leadership forums, communicating status, risks, and recommended actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 10–15 years of related professional experience, or a Master’s degree and/or PhD in these fields with 5–10 years of experience.
• Deep understanding of the end-to-end product lifecycle and scalable productization.
• Strong expertise in structured problem solving and root cause analysis across silicon, test, and manufacturing environments.
• Ability to translate complex technical data and analytics into clear executive-level narratives and recommendations.
• Hands-on experience using ATE for silicon characterization, analysis, and debug.
• Solid foundation in applied statistics for product characterization, yield improvement, and quality analysis.
• Working knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools such as JMP and SiliconDash or equivalent platforms.
• Strong planning and prioritization skills across multiple parallel efforts.

Nice to have

• Experience with 93K or Teradyne Tester platforms.
• Interest in process automation and workflow optimization.
