Legal Counsel (Insurance)

Location: Hybrid, with a minimum of two days per week in the office; positions available in Atlanta, Chicago, or Manhattan, United States.

Salary: $120,000–$180,000 per year, plus a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Provide day-to-day legal support to the US business unit and partner with claims, operations, underwriting, product, compliance, and other control functions.
• Develop and revise insurance policy forms, endorsements, and product wordings, including competitor market research and legacy-product ambiguity reduction.
• Coordinate state filings, support form and endorsement submissions, and respond to state regulator inquiries.
• Support product updates and redesign projects while advising on regulatory and litigation trends affecting product strategy.
• Draft and review insurance services and distribution agreements, including terms of business agreements.
• Advise on consumer complaints, financial and market conduct examinations, regulator information requests, licensing, distribution, marketing, and operations.

Requirements

• 4+ years of law firm or in-house insurance industry experience in the property and casualty space, preferably liability insurance.
• Understanding of property and casualty insurance products, including cyber, D&O, E&O, and GL.
• Experience with insurance policy wordings, coverage, and regulatory approval processes.
• Strong understanding of insurance contract principles and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• JD required.
• Admission to at least one state bar required.
