Liability Trial Attorney (Insurance Defense)

Location: Hybrid in New York City, United States

Annual base salary: $106,300–$175,400, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Handle a caseload of predominantly low- to moderate-complexity insurance defense matters from inception through trial, hearing, and appeal.
• Develop litigation strategies, try cases to verdict, negotiate resolutions, and provide case analysis to insured clients and claim partners.
• Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery materials, and other legal documents.
• Attend and independently manage court events, depositions, hearings, trials, dispositive motion arguments, and other appointments.
• Build relationships with clients, colleagues, claim partners, and business partners while providing legal advice and training.
• Use case management systems, available technology, and automation effectively; travel as required by business needs.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree from an accredited law school.
• At least 2 years of experience as a practicing attorney; 3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience preferred for the ideal candidate.
• Active law license in good standing in the state or states where representation is required.
• Experience independently handling cases through trial or hearing and appeal, including hearings, depositions, and dispositive motion arguments.
• Strong legal research, writing, oral advocacy, communication, negotiation, decision-making, and case-management skills.
• Ability to travel to court proceedings and other meetings; a valid driver's license may be required depending on location.
