Fund Controller (SBIC)

Location: Hamilton, New Jersey; Sandy, Utah; or Seattle, Washington. U.S. work authorization is required.

Annual salary: $146,158–$171,950 in Seattle, Washington; $130,773–$153,850 in Hamilton, New Jersey. Final offers may vary based on geography, experience, expertise, and other factors.

What you will do

• Provide CFO and fund administration services covering capital calls and distributions, audit and tax support, pre- and post-close services, quarterly and annual financials, LP communications, and SBIC regulatory compliance and SBA reporting.
• Support founders, venture capital firms, general partners, and LPs with real-time IRR, portfolio data, TVPI, and RVPI.
• Work with product and engineering teams to improve the Private Capital product suite and implement fund administration software with clients.
• Manage daily client relationships and coordinate with external auditors and tax providers.
• Review AI-drafted capital calls, reconciliations, and financial packages; own exception management as AI is integrated into fund administration.
• Assist Directors, mentor junior team members, and ensure SOC compliance across accounting processes and procedures.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Venture Capital or Private Equity Fund Administration, including at least 2 years of SBIC experience.
• Experience with SBIC fund administration, SBA compliance, regulatory reporting, and leverage or financing requirements.
• Experience maintaining and managing multiple client relationships and delivering quality client work on time.
• Experience interpreting Limited Partnership Agreements.
• Experience reviewing financial statements and footnotes for consistency with the appropriate reporting framework.
• Experience with waterfall calculations, management fees, and carried interest allocations.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Experience using technology to automate processes and improve efficiency.
• Experience training and guiding new and existing team members.
