Principal Process Architect, Accounting (Fintech)

Location: Mountain View or San Diego, California, United States

Base pay: $215,000–$291,000 annually in Mountain View; position may also include cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define and refine enterprise-wide finance transformation roadmaps across plan-to-perform and core financial operations.
• Lead cross-functional programs from requirements definition through delivery, managing scope, quality, schedule, budget, and business and technical objectives.
• Streamline ambiguous and inefficient finance processes by replacing manual work with automated capabilities and scalable financial solutions.
• Reconcile high-volume transaction data across ERP, SaaS, and custom finance applications; identify discrepancies and design controlled automated resolution workflows.
• Advise finance leadership through advanced data analysis, prioritization, and decision support while influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.
• Lead adoption and change activities, including communication plans, stakeholder engagement, and training for new processes and systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience with deep expertise in financial systems, processes, and large-scale transformation projects.
• Subject matter expertise in Record-to-Report, Fixed Assets, Source-to-Pay, and direct and indirect tax.
• Ability to connect end-to-end core financials process design with data models, AI and automation, technology, and dependencies across planning, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Experience orchestrating large-scale, multi-year finance transformation programs and managing dependencies between ERP or SaaS implementations and business process re-engineering.
• Expert understanding of core accounting principles, including US GAAP and IFRS, and their application in a systems environment.
• Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to translate complex business needs into scalable system architecture.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional senior leaders using data and insights.
• Ability to lead large-scale change initiatives, operate without boundaries, and align teams with business strategy.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree, MBA, or professional certification such as CPA or PMP.
• Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP and EPM Cloud modules.
• Experience in technology and fintech industries.
• Formal training and experience in project management and change management methodologies.
