Principal Engineering Program Manager (PLM)

Location: Onsite, primarily from an HPE office in Texas City, Texas; Andover, Massachusetts; or Fort Collins, Colorado. The role is available in the United States, with other locations potentially considered for qualified continental US citizens.

Base salary: $147,000–$279,000 annually in Colorado; $158,500–$301,500 annually in Massachusetts; $140,000–$321,000 annually in Texas. Variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Lead complex, cross-functional engineering programs across the product lifecycle, from concept and New Product Introduction through release, sustaining, and end-of-life.
• Build and manage integrated schedules, critical deliverables, budgets, resource allocation plans, dependencies, and milestone readiness.
• Coordinate Product, Engineering, Manufacturing, internal development partners, suppliers, standards bodies, customers, and other external parties.
• Track execution data, identify risks and dependencies early, create recovery plans for slipping milestones, and remove roadblocks.
• Present program progress, escalations, risks, trade-offs, and issue analysis to senior management and stakeholders.
• Drive technology integration, quality initiatives, measurable process improvements, and mentoring for less-experienced staff.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in program/project management, engineering program management, or technical program management.
• 5+ years in an Agile environment, supporting engineering delivery, and 5+ years owning New Product Introduction and/or product release execution.
• 5+ years coordinating cross-functional execution and working directly with engineering and program cross-functional teams.
• 3+ years influencing delivery commitments and outcomes with senior stakeholders, operating at senior stakeholder level, and presenting status, risks, and trade-offs to senior management.
• 4+ years using formal governance, identifying risks and dependencies, improving program efficiency, owning schedules, and driving recovery plans for slipping milestones.
• 4+ years managing program scope, schedule, budget, resources, stakeholders, matrixed teams, and project planning tools.
• 3+ years hands-on experience using Jira for program execution tracking and stakeholder reporting, plus 2+ years using Smartsheet for program schedules and reporting.
• 3+ years using execution metrics to drive corrective actions and contributing to measurable process improvements such as improved predictability, reduced cycle time, or improved on-time delivery.
• 2+ years of formal or informal mentoring or leadership responsibilities; excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business management, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or equivalent experience. Mastery in English and the local language is required.
