Fortinet Network Security Engineer (Fortinet)

Location: Remote; U.S. based only. Up to 25% travel may be required.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and support Fortinet security solutions using FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiSwitch.
• Configure and manage firewall policies, security profiles, IPSec and SSL VPNs, SD-WAN, and UTM features.
• Use FortiManager for centralized policy deployment and FortiAnalyzer for event correlation, log analysis, and reporting.
• Perform health checks, upgrades, and policy audits on Fortinet equipment.
• Support switching, VLANs, subnetting, NAT, static and dynamic routing including OSPF and BGP.
• Troubleshoot client environments, collaborate with stakeholders, recommend security practices, and document configurations, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Fortinet security technologies, including FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiSwitch.
• Basic Fortinet certification is required before hire. NSE 4 or higher is preferred.
• Solid understanding of subnetting, NAT, routing protocols including OSPF and BGP, switching, and VLANs.
• Experience creating firewall policies, configuring security profiles, and managing VPNs.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to use emerging technologies, including AI tools, to solve problems and improve business outcomes.
• Ability to perform sedentary computer-based work involving substantial wrist, hand, and finger movement and close visual acuity for at least 8 hours per day.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-tenant firewall environments and clients in regulated industries.
• Familiarity with FortiAP, FortiClient EMS, and FortiAuthenticator.
• Exposure to network segmentation, zero trust architecture, or compliance-driven security implementations.
• Experience working with MSPs or in a consulting or VAR role.
• NSE 4 or higher Fortinet certification.
