Senior Specialist, Data Engineering and Analytics

Location: Hybrid; primary location in Rahway, New Jersey, USA. Travel to manufacturing sites may be required, estimated at up to 10% of time.

Salary: $117,000–$184,200 annually for the primary location; eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive where applicable.

What you will do

• Execute data engineering and analytics deliverables supporting Small Molecule Science & Technology priorities and business needs.
• Build, maintain, and enhance data pipelines, transformations, curated datasets, dashboards, reports, and analytical tools.
• Investigate data issues and improve the quality, completeness, accessibility, usability, and contextualization of manufacturing and process data.
• Translate defined business questions into data requirements, logic, and fit-for-purpose outputs, and support testing, implementation, refinement, and user adoption.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, manufacturing users, digital teams, IT, and global pharmaceutical operations across a matrixed environment.
• Document data structures, business logic, and technical approaches while managing deliverables, risks, dependencies, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• BSc, BEng, Master’s degree, or higher in Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, with five years of required experience; three years with an MS.
• Relevant experience in data engineering, analytics, manufacturing systems, technical operations, or related technical roles.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing, process, or operational data in pharmaceutical, biotech, or similarly regulated environments.
• Experience with data preparation, transformation, pipeline development, analytics tools, dashboards, or reporting solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively across business and technical teams in a matrixed environment.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and deliver high-quality work with appropriate guidance.

Nice to have

• Experience with DataLynx, SEEQ, MPI, MES, historians, or similar technologies.
• Willingness and ability to travel to manufacturing sites, estimated at less than 10% of time.
